Hey everyone!

A couple of weeks ago, on a cool October morning, I drove over to the Wait’s cozy lil home in stockton to photograph their maternity session. Kristin told me several months ago that she didn’t want a maternity session, but after a thinking about it she changed her mind. She said the more she thought about it, she wanted to document this special time in her and Caleb’s life where it’s still the two of them, but they’re preparing for a special new member to their house. It’s a time of excitement and a time for reflection and she wanted me to capture this special time in their home. Plus Kristin promised homemade cinnamon rolls if I came over so that sealed the deal. It’s hard to believe almost 2 years ago I photographed their wedding and now they are taking another big step together and becoming parents. I was so honored to be not only capture so many important moments in their relationship, but to also call them dear friends. Here are the results. Enjoy!

It has been baby central over here at Scot Woodman Photography! I’ve been working with a lot of new mommies to be and I figured I’d blog my latest maternity session. Danelle and Daniel are 1st time parents and will be meeting their son in just a few weeks, so they decided to take some pics together (and with their adorable beagle Roo) before their bundle of joy arrives. It was nice to photograph them in their own home before going out and taking pics outside. It was a very candid and intimate session and I was so happy to be capture such an exciting time in their lives.IMG_0015IMG_0081IMG_0043IMG_0091IMG_0112IMG_0133IMG_0070IMG_0205IMG_0247IMG_0269IMG_0293IMG_0320IMG_0345IMG_0351IMG_0353IMG_0381IMG_0456IMG_0502IMG_0540IMG_0591IMG_0635IMG_0546IMG_0642IMG_0713IMG_0743IMG_0804IMG_0895IMG_0919

Last week, I had the AMAZING opportunity to photograph a baby delivery! I don’t get nervous before any of my shoots anymore, but having this be a new challenge, I was a little nervous about photographing such an intimate experience between new parents Jennifer and Spencer. On December 11th, I got the text from Jennifer informing me her water had broke. My 1st reaction was to drop everything I was doing and to rush to the hospital like they do in every sitcom and TV show. But I quickly learned that the birth process, especially a women’s 1st child, is a LONG process. So Jennifer continued to update me with texts throughout the night and I arrived next day in the early afternoon to begin photographing the process. Jennifer chose to have an all natural birth. She did not want to have any pain medications if possible and just let her body do the work. Jennifer also had an amazing Doula, Becky, who helped her through every step of the way. She kept an eye on vitals, helped Jennifer get up and moved around, and spoke encouraging words to Jennifer through the painful moments. It was honestly such an wonderful sight to see someone coach and help someone through such an emotionally and physically draining time. Becky really kept Jennifer focused on each step. Jennifer worked hard all day and into the night working through each contractions calm and collected with the help of Becky and her husband Spencer. As time passed, things weren’t moving along as planned. Ultimately, her midwife informed her that she thought Josiah was going to be a big boy and with Jennifer and Josiah’s well being in mind, they thought it would be best to do a C section. After some discussion between Jennifer, Spencer, and Becky, everyone decided that the C Section was the best option despite it not being part of the birth plan. I was unfortunately not allowed in the Operating room. I waited in the lobby and at 9:45pm I received the text from Spencer saying Baby Josiah was born! I waited until the nurse came out and I was allowed in the recovery room to capture Jennifer and Spencer finally meeting her son for the 1st time. The whole process was very long and I was exhausted (and I wasn’t even the one having a Baby!) but I learned A LOT. I honestly am excited to do this again in the future. Enjoy these special photos!

Hey everyone! Since wedding season is over, I plan on catching you all up to speed on all the awesome sessions and wedding’s I’ve shot over the last couple of months. So stay tuned for many more photos up on the blog. I had the pleasure to work with Elin and Kevin last month. They are soon going to be parents to 2 baby boys. That’s right, twins! We did their lovely engagement session in their home city of San Francisco. They are expected to meet their two baby boys in early January and I can’t wait to meet them and take their very 1st portraits. Here are the results from the maternity session. Enjoy!

Today’s blog is about Mom and Dad soon to be, Shauna and Chris. I met Shauna through some mutual photographer friends and she has modeled for me several times for my fashion projects. I was so excited when she got a hold me and told me that she wanted me to take their maternity photos. She has always been beautiful, but she was absolutely radiant during her session. Her and Chris are so excited to be parents and I can’t wait to meet their little girl when she arrives. Enjoy!
