So it’s been quite a while since I posted a blog, much less a blog of some the creative shoots and series I’ve been up to. So I decided to write a lil blog to show you one of my more recent and favorite creative shoots. This shoot actually wasn’t supposed to be a series at first. I took some portraits of the lovely Lluvy and me and the makeup artists were inspired by florals. As I was editing the images m brain started to conceptualizing and soon I had made the decision to get 3 other girls and do a whole beauty series inspired by the seasons. I wanted each girl to have a sense of royalty during each shoot so I made some crowns that each girl wore to represent their season. So here are the results of our sessions! Hope you enjoy!

I absolutely love Fall. I love everything about it. The weather transitions from hot to cool and crisp. The late day light turns a deep gold and dances among the tree branches. The tress start their slumber for the long winter months by changing from calming greens to bright red, orange, and yellow. They then shed their branches into a beautiful carpet of color all over the ground. The sun’s travel across the sky becomes shorter and sullen hues overtake the skies. That’s what Autmun is all about, transitions. My creativity goes through a similar transition this time of year too. My ideas go from bright colors and sun drenched images to morose and contrasted images. I wanted to capture this transition  of creativity into an actual shoot. So I got together with my friend and model, Lynnae and we did a whole shoot with this theme of transition in mind. I hope you enjoy!

When I posted my last blog explaining Amanda and her situation, I wanted the blog to be shared so people could not only participate in this photo project but also be aware of the Amanda’s situation. But I had no idea that people would be so generous. People I knew, people I had never met, people of all walks of life came out and decided to support this project. Not only did they come out and be involved in the photo series, but they were beyond generous and gave more than I could have ever hoped for. In just 2 days, The Breath Project brought in over $800! I am absolutely floored and astounded by all of generosity and kindness. This project meant so much to me and to see such a positive response. Not only did you come out and give, a lot of people who came and people who commented on the blog, told me their stories about their loved one and friends who also suffer with Cystic Fibrosis. All of your kindness as well as all of these stories touched my heart deeply. I am just about speechless. Words cannot begin express my gratitude to all of you that helped by getting your portrait taken or by praying. Because of your hard work and prayers Amanda and Matthew now can rest a little easier during these hard times.

Matthew (Amanda’s Husband) contacted me the other day and informed me that Amanda is now at the top of the list for her Lung transplant. She only has one person ahead of her, so the surgery will happen very soon. So all of your continued prayers and well wishes would be greatly appreciated. She’s about to start her long journey towards a new life.

Again everyone. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!

Now here are all the portraits! If you got your photo taken you can download your full size photos HERE

Before I even begin, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this blog. It means a lot that you even clicked on the link and are taking the time to read this story. This story is about Amanda.

Amanda is my friend and also the wife one of my best friends, Matthew. They got married last summer and have already been through a lot. Amanda has Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a lifelong, hereditary disease that causes thick mucus to form in the lungs. This mucus blocks the airways, causing lung damage, making it hard to breathe, and leading to serious lung infections. Amanda (like the other 30,000 Americans with Cystic Fibrosis) has struggled with this disease her entire life. Her journey has been long and hard, but she has finally reached the point where even simple things like walking needs to be treated by breathing treatments.

But here comes the good news! She is now in the great and capable hands of the doctors at Stanford Medical Center. Because she failed her tests, she actually is now able to able to get a lung transplant, allowing her a 2nd chance at life. This would mean Amanda could lead a much normal life with her family, her new husband Matthew, and all the people she loves dearly.

Now here’s where you come in. Amanda journey is starting to look a little better, but she still has a long way to go. So the very 1st thing I wanna ask all of you is to say a prayer for her. She needs strength not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually. Keeping her in your thoughts and prayers  will dramatically help her and it’s the absolute best thing we can do. The second thing we can do is help her financially and create an awesome project. This is where you guys really come in.

As I heard the news about her upcoming surgery and the help she needed, I thought to myself, What can I do? Then it dawned on me. Why not do a creative series that you and I can participate in to not only help Amanda, but raise awareness about all the other people with Cystic Fibrosis. This series represents what I think of when I think of a big blue sky. Fresh, clean, and inspiring, just like Amanda’s journey and her future.

So here’s how we’re going to do it. You show up to my place: 3901 Hennings Drive Modesto, CA this coming Monday and Tuesday (July 15 and July 16th) between 5-8pm wearing a white t-shirt and I take your portrait in front a white backdrop with a projection of a beautiful blue sky over you. Just like this!

Each photo will be a suggested donation of $10.00. All the proceeds collected will go directly towards Amanda’s Fund to help fund her surgery, as well as her recovery time at Stanford. The donation you give will get you a photo in front of the backdrop.  I will post all the photos online for you to download and use as your profile picture or just hang up in your room! We will also have baked goods for you to purchase at a donation as well! If you are reading this and cannot be involved with this series because of distance, you can still  be involved by making a donation of any price you’d like HERE .

So please, take a couple minutes out of your day, be a part of an awesome project, get a cool portrait taken, and help out Amanda!
