With it being Mother’s Day weekend, I figured it was appropriate to blog the latest delivery I got to photograph. Danelle and Daniel are 1st time parents and I got to photograph them just a few weeks ago during Danelle’s maternity session. Before I knew it, 3 weeks had passed and I officially on baby alert. At 2am on April 25th, I got the text from Daniel letting me know that Danelle’s water had broke and they were on their way the hospital. So I headed over at about 8am and started documenting the labor process. Danelle was VERY calm throughout her labor. Danelle’s mom and her mother-in-law were BEYOND encouraging, cheering Danelle along the whole way and giving her words of comfort. It’s always so special to see mom’s supporting their daughter during baby deliveries. There’s an unspoken bond that only moms can understand when they see another woman giving birth. They know every feeling, every emotion, the intensity, and the excitement. It’s a full circle moment when a mom gets to see her own daughter give birth to a child all their own. Being in the room and capturing these moments is probably one of favorite things I get to photograph. Danelle conquered her delivery like a true champion and before we knew it,  Baby Cooper was born! Happy, healthy, and with a head FULL of hair! Everyone was just so excited for the moment that they all had been waiting 9 months for. Every time I do a delivery I end up crying at some point because the pure joy, excitement, and love in room is just so contagious, you can’t help but catch it and get caught up in such a special moment with everyone else. I’m so happy I got to be there and capture for special time in this new family’s life and I can’t wait to photograph Cooper’s newborn portraits. Enjoy!IMG_5168IMG_5138IMG_5145IMG_5163IMG_5172IMG_5132IMG_5274IMG_5291IMG_5351IMG_5293IMG_5399IMG_5411IMG_5430IMG_5386IMG_5444IMG_5491IMG_5505IMG_5512IMG_5534IMG_5536IMG_5554IMG_5570IMG_5588IMG_5592IMG_5600IMG_5631IMG_5609IMG_5660IMG_5740IMG_5668IMG_5701IMG_5704IMG_5717IMG_5714IMG_5721IMG_5781IMG_5795IMG_5800IMG_5831IMG_5865IMG_5869 2IMG_5932IMG_5946 copyIMG_5977IMG_5989IMG_5995IMG_6064IMG_6069IMG_6107IMG_6110IMG_6112IMG_6115IMG_6119IMG_6122

It has been baby central over here at Scot Woodman Photography! I’ve been working with a lot of new mommies to be and I figured I’d blog my latest maternity session. Danelle and Daniel are 1st time parents and will be meeting their son in just a few weeks, so they decided to take some pics together (and with their adorable beagle Roo) before their bundle of joy arrives. It was nice to photograph them in their own home before going out and taking pics outside. It was a very candid and intimate session and I was so happy to be capture such an exciting time in their lives.IMG_0015IMG_0081IMG_0043IMG_0091IMG_0112IMG_0133IMG_0070IMG_0205IMG_0247IMG_0269IMG_0293IMG_0320IMG_0345IMG_0351IMG_0353IMG_0381IMG_0456IMG_0502IMG_0540IMG_0591IMG_0635IMG_0546IMG_0642IMG_0713IMG_0743IMG_0804IMG_0895IMG_0919

I met Bianca during a fashion show in Modesto in 2014. She makes beautiful swimwear/dancewear and I collaborated with her during the fashion show by adding my flower crowns with her deisgns. Afterwards, we talked a lot and she became a regular customer of my flower crowns. One day in October 2015, she called me and told me she and Max were going to go down to City Hall in San Diego to elope. They wanted me to come down and photograph the special day for them and I was more than honored to do so! So a couple days later, I hoped on a early flight and met Bianca, Max, and Bianca’s family at City Hall in downtown San Diego and photographed them officially becoming husband and wife! It should be known, Bianca made her dress from scratch the night before the wedding (yes you read that right). It was an quick and intimate ceremony and they were so happy to finally tie the knot. After the ceremony, everyone traveled over to Balboa Park to have a picnic reception. They spread out a blanket on the grass, unpacked a plethora of goodies, and cheered to their new marriage. There was tears of joy, guitar playing, well wishes, and laughter throughout the afternoon. Their joy was contagious and so many people passing by commented on how beauitful Bianca and Max looked and how happy they were for them. I was so honored to be there for Max and Bianca on such a special day and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I has documenting such a special day for a couple that’s beautiful inside and out. Enjoy!IMG_6764IMG_6787IMG_6765IMG_6760IMG_6802IMG_6816IMG_6836IMG_6856IMG_6860IMG_6876IMG_6904IMG_6905IMG_6945IMG_6963IMG_6965IMG_7059IMG_7098IMG_7142IMG_7176IMG_7238IMG_7242IMG_7258IMG_7299IMG_7320IMG_7384IMG_7402IMG_7475IMG_7484IMG_7503IMG_7528IMG_7536IMG_7555IMG_7575IMG_7578IMG_7591IMG_7599IMG_7634IMG_7667IMG_7690IMG_7701IMG_7740IMG_7814IMG_7821IMG_7846IMG_7850IMG_7862IMG_7877IMG_7912IMG_7951IMG_7968IMG_8023IMG_8059IMG_8127IMG_8207IMG_8361IMG_8405IMG_8507IMG_8603IMG_8686 copy 2

2015 was a BUSY year for me and after I was done, I was in much need of a vacation. So I decided to retreat to Palm Springs and take a few days to relax, explore and unwind. I went to Palm Springs for the 1st time earlier in 2015 for work, but I didn’t stay very long and didn’t have time to take in the full amazingness of the city and surrounding area.

My 1st must go to spot I visited as soon as I got there was Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s home. They only lived there a year, but it’s where they lived right after they got married and where they had their wedding reception after their famous elopement in Las Vegas. It was amid century lovers dream, so I was in vintage heaven.

With it being slow season for me once again, I finally have time to do some creative projects. These projects are shoots that I think about all the time and put on the back burner until I have the time to do them. In my off season, when I want a break from editing all the sessions and weddings I have, I usually plan one of these shoots to break up my repetitive routine to keep me inspired. I usually have a general idea in mind and then during the shoot, let the creative process take hold. I push myself to experiment with new stuff instead of falling into what I know is safe for myself.

Vinny and I connected about a year ago when he first moved to LA and we’ve followed each other on instagram. His Instagram Feed is INSANELY good. His aesthetics are the perfect mixture of moody lighting, futurism, architecture, minimal fashion, and dance. He also has a YOUTUBE channel where he posts all his dance videos. They are INSANELY good, but make sure you’re comfortable because you can’t watch just one. Here’s some of my personal favorites.

Since he has a similar aesthetic to myself (or at least what I want my aesthetic to be/look like) I knew our collaboration would be SUPER fun and produce some magic. We explored downtown LA and found the most AMAZING location and got right down to work. These are out results. Enjoy!
